Lets get specific.. we have used both types of CAT's on the market..We have found that the Rare Earth Metal types over time tend to fail more often..We have had great success with the ceramic type cores... but that said they are not 100% all the time, we have seen many stock CAT's fail. The cores tend to break down and collapse in on themselves thus causing a huge blockage in the exhaust track. Sign's that your CAT is failing are:

In comes a Hi-Flow Catalytic Converter, a Hi-flow catalytic converter will usually have either a rare earth metal core or a ceramic type core... both work in the same way, they are packed much looser than factory CAT's thus allowing more exhaust gas to flow per exhaust cycle. They still allow for the same types of catalysed chemical reactions and still allow you to move in many case's up to three times the CFM's (Cubic Feet per Minute).

1)      Reduced Power

2)      Trouble Idling

3)      Check engine light is on

By our estimates about 1 in 100 factory CAT's have failed, we base this number on feedback from local clubs.
